Atlanta Sends Calder Cup Champion Oystrick To Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman NATHAN OYSTRICK (OY-strihk) to the Chicago Wolves.

The 26-year-old defenseman, who recorded one assist in four preseason games with Atlanta, made his National Hockey League debut with the Thrashers last season, netting 12 points (4G, 8A) and 50 penalty minutes in 53 outings. His most recent American Hockey League action came in 2007-08, when he appeared in all 80 regular-season games for the Wolves, notching 15 goals, 28 assists, 43 points and 112 penalty minutes. He also appeared in all 24 playoff outings that season, recording 11 points (3G, 8A) en route to helping the club capture the 2008 Calder Cup championship.

Overall, the Regina, Saskatchewan, native has appeared in 162 career AHL outings with the Wolves from 2005 to 2008, collecting 30 goals, 61 assists, 91 points and 221 penalty minutes. He also has skated in 39 Calder Cup playoff matchups for Chicago, amassing 17 points (3G, 14A), and was named to the AHL's Second All-Star team, All-Rookie team and participated in the AHL All-Star Game in 2006-07.

Prior to turning pro, OYSTRICK spent four seasons at Northern Michigan University (CCHA) from 2002 to 2006 where he racked up 89 points (26G, 63A) and 269 penalty minutes in 151 games.
