
Flyers Assign NHL Veteran Randy Jones To Phantoms

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that Philadelphia has assigned veteran NHL defenseman Randy Jones to the Phantoms. Adirondack also announced that they have released forward Tomas Sinisalo from their training camp roster and have reassigned defenseman David Sloane to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.
Jones, 28, had cleared NHL exit waivers on Monday at 12:00 pm, but has now been officially assigned to Adirondack. During his six year professional career the Quispamsis, New Brunswick native has appeared in 217 career NHL games, scoring 69 points (13 goals, 56 assists) and recording 134 penalty minutes. Jones, who has also played in 22 career Stanley Cup playoff games, has appeared in 147 career AHL games with the Phantoms, posting 63 points (15 goals, 48 assists) and 148 penalty minutes. Jones played in three pre-season games for the Flyers this year, recording one assist and two penalty minutes.
The Phantoms also announced that they have loaned defenseman David Sloane to the Kalamazoo Wings, the Flyers' ECHL affiliate, and have released forward Tomas Sinisalo from his tryout contract. With those two transactions and the addition of Randy Jones, Adirondack currently has 26 players on their training camp roster.
Adirondack opens the 2009-10 Regular Season on Saturday, October 3rd as they host the Worcester Sharks for a 7:00 pm face off at the Glens Falls Civic Center. As of Thursday morning, fewer than 900 tickets remain available for Opening Night.
