Atlanta Recalls Vigier

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled right wing J.P. Vigier (VEE-zhay) from the Chicago Wolves.

Vigier is tied for first on the Wolves with 25 goals; ranks third on the club with nine power-play tallies; and ranks fourth on the team with 41 points (25 goals, 16 assists). In his first professional All-Star game, he notched one assist at the 2002 Assante and Baker Hughes American Hockey League All-Star Classic on Feb. 14.

The 25-year-old forward is playing in his second professional season this year. Last season, he led all International Hockey League rookies with 23 goals and 12 power-play markers during the regular season with the 2001 Turner Cup Champion Orlando Solar Bears. Vigier¹s 23 goals also tied for the Orlando team-lead. He also tallied 17 assists; 40 points and 66 penalty minutes in 78 games.

Vigier led league rookies and ranked 10th overall during the postseason with 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 16 playoff games and tied for first among IHL rookies with six playoff goals. He tied for the team and league-lead with two short-handed goals in the postseason.

The Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, native played two games with the Thrashers last season, including his National Hockey League debut on Feb. 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Vigier played 152 games spanning four seasons at the University of Northern Michigan, finishing 19th all-time in goals and power-play markers and 25th all-time with 125 points (61 goals, 64 assists). Vigier signed with Atlanta as a free agent on April 20, 2000.
