HOUSTON, TX - Aeros' General Manager Dave Barr announced today that the Aeros have signed winger Konstantin Kalmikov and defenseman Kevin Mitchell to Professional Tryout Contracts.

A native of Kharkov, Ukraine, Kalmikov (23) played two games for Hershey (AHL) before joining Louisiana (ECHL) this season. In 60 games, Kalmikov has 16-25-41, 10 PIM, and is tied for seventh overall in scoring for the IceGators. Now in his fifth pro season, Kalmikov played his first full pro season in 1998-99 with St. John's (AHL) after being drafted by Toronto in the third round, 68th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Now in his first full pro season, Mitchell (21) had tallied 7-32-39 in 63 games with Louisiana (ECHL). He ranks second on the team among defensemen with 127 PIM, and third overall in scoring among blueliners. A native of Bronx, New York, Mitchell played eight games last season with Hamilton (AHL) and was taken in the ninth round by Calgary, 234th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Kalmikov and Mitchell will be in the lineup tomorrow night, when the Aeros host the Utah Grizzlies in the first of back-to-back games this week. Tomorrow night's game starts at 7:00 PM. Friday night is Pack the House for Education night, with the puck set to drop at 7:30 PM.
