LAST TIME OUT:
Hartford Athletic and the Puerto Rico National Team took the field for the first ever international friendly in club history. In front of 4,685 fans, Hartford Athletic and the Puerto Rico National Team came together to raise money for hurricane relief efforts. The captain Wojtek Wojcik opened the account on the day with a lethal finish on a beautiful through ball from Sebastian Dalgaard in the 25th minute. Puerto Rico quickly answered in the 27th minute as Gerard Diaz put one away. A back and forth first half ended knotted at 1-1. Hartford Athletic would distance itself in the second half with Brass Bonanza ringing throughout Dillon Stadium another four times before the end of the match on goals from: Angulo (58'), Jorgensen (68'), Dalgaard (72'), and Barrera (86').
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Hartford Athletic - Sem de Wit, DF
Sem has been a mainstay on the Hartford Athletic backline this season, missing only one match all season due to a yellow card accumulation suspension. Sem will have to give a little extra this week as Hartford will be without defenders Alex Davey and Raymond Lee. Both are suspended for the match for the red cards they received against New York Red Bulls II two weeks ago. Expect to see some familiar faces on the Hartford backline, but look for Sem to captain the defense and make sure everyone is in the right spots.
Atlanta United 2 - Dylan Castanheira, GK
It was Brendan Moore who stood in net on March 9th when Atlanta blanked Athletic in the Club's first ever match. Since then, Castanheira has taken over the starting role but hasn't had the success Moore had. He has saved only 62 of 103 shots taken on goal against him and recorded only one clean sheet in fourteen starts. Hartford has a chance to do some damage after getting the offense back on track last weekend.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT:
Atlanta United 2 comes into the match having won two of their last three matches, including a 2-1 victory on Saturday against Swope Park Rangers. Offensively, the ATLUTD2 scoring is paced by Bienvenue Kanakimana and Jackson Conway with 6 and 5 goals scored respecitvely. Defensively, the boys from the Dogwood City have struggled, conceding 55 goals in 23 matches. Atlanta has only recorded 2 clean sheets on the season, the first of which came in the season's first match (March 9th) when Atlanta United 2 hosted Hartford Athletic.
