Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are pleased to announce the tender signing of Nikita Asylaev.
A forward from the NAPHL's Alaska Oilers U16 group, Asylaev becomes the sixth tender to sign on with the Knights organization. The Russian playmaker led the NAPHL in scoring during the regular season with 21 goals and 37 points.
"Nikita is one of the most prolific scorers in the NAPHL," said Knights Director of Scouting and NAHL Assistant Coach, Andrew Whiteside. "He creates a lot of offense for himself as well as his teammates with a mix of speed, strength, and skill. As a staff, we feel that Nikita's best years of hockey are ahead of him."
Asylaev, 17, had been touted as a scoring threat even prior to leading the NAPHL. In his 2017-18 midget season with the Colorado Evolution, Asylaev put up 26 points in 13 games. Now with the Oilers, Nikita helped his team finish first in the High Performance 16U's regular season.
