
Astors Recall Everett and Saarloos

Metairie, LA â Houston Astros announced today that the club has recalled infielder Adam Everett and right-handed pitcher Kirk Saarloos from New Orleans. To make room on the roster, the Astros have optioned left-handed pitcher Jeriome Robertson and infielder David Matranga to the Zephyrs.
Everett, 26, was hitting .250 (25x100) with one home run, nine RBI, and three stolen bases. In 21 games at shortstop for the Zephyrs, he has made two errors. Everett hit .193 (17x88) in 40 games for Houston last season. The opening day shortstop for the Astros in 2002, Everett is in the starting lineup tonight for the Astros.
Saarloos was 3-0 with a 1.65 ERA (8ER/43.2IP) in six starts for New Orleans in 2003, including two complete games, 25 strikeouts and five walks. He was 6-7 with a 6.01 ERA (57ER/85.1IP) in 17 starts for Houston in 2002, and threw the lone shutout by an Astros pitcher last season on 7/25 against Pittsburgh at Minute Maid Park.
Robertson, 26, was 1-3 with a 8.36 ERA (26ER/28IP) in six starts for Houston, striking out 23 and walking 11. Matranga did not appear in a game for the Astros while on the 25-man active roster.
The Zephyrs open a four game series with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Friday at 8:05 p.m. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs calling the action.
