Tucson Sidewinders News Release


Tucson, AZ – The Tucson Sidewinders return home on Tuesday, May 6 for a short 4 game series against the Albuquerque Isotopes (Florida Marlins). This will be the Isotopes first and only trip to Tucson this season, their inaugural season since moving from Calgary after last year. The homestand is highlighted by D.A.R.E./G.R.E.A.T. Day on Wednesday, May 7th and Curt Schilling--in a Toros Uniform--Bobblehead Night" on Friday, May 9th.

Good seats remain for all games. The Tucson Electric Park box office can be reached at (520) 434-1021. Gates open one hour before game time unless otherwise noted.

HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS:

Tuesday, May 6, 6:30 p.m. vs. Albuquerque (Gates Open 5:30) – "TUCSON TOROS TUESDAY" – Come turn back the clock as your Sidewinders dress in traditional Tucson Toros uniforms. In addition, a special commemorative Toros program will be for sale, there will be throwback prices on some concessions and Toros merchandise will be on sale in the Team Shop. Look for discounted tickets in the Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Citizen.

Wednesday, May 7, 10:10 a.m. vs. Albuquerque (Gates Open 8:30) – "D.A.R.E./G.R.E.A.T. DAY" – The Sidewinders have invited kindergarten through eighth grade students from schools all around Southern Arizona to take in a ballgame and learn more about the anti-drug D.A.R.E. and anti-gang G.R.E.A.T. programs. The Sidewinders have already confirmed reservations and bought tickets and lunches for over 6,000 local children.

Thursday, May 8, 6:30 p.m. vs. Albuquerque (Gates Open 5:30) – "THIRSTY THURSDAY LIVE" – Be a part of a Tucson tradition and enjoy $1 beer and soft drinks for 2 hours after the first pitch. As a twist, laugh even more to stand-up comedy on the dugouts between innings! Register to tell your joke at any Quik Mart location.

Friday, May 9, 6:30 p.m. vs. Albuquerque (Gates Open 5:30) – "CURT SCHILLING BOBBLEHEAD & SLEEP-OVER NIGHT" – 2,000 Curt Schilling Bobbleheads clad in Tucson Toros uniforms, honoring his stint with the Toros in 1991 and his success with the Diamondbacks will be given away "lottery-style." Kids and parents are invited to bring their tents and sleeping bags and spend the night on the outfield lawn. Fun events and activities are scheduled, including a midnight pizza party!
