Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves Friday night 4-3 in front of 4,213 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Rome falls to 11-18 on the season.

Asheville scored the first run of the game in the first inning on a Joseph Sanders home run (4) to right field for the 1-0 lead. The Tourists scored again in the third when Sanders singled to plate Eliezer Mesa.

The Braves cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth on a single from Mycal Jones to score Brett Schlehuber.

Asheville extended their lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning. Avery Barnes tripled to bring home Helder Velazquez and was later brought home on a sacrifice fly from Sanders.

Rome battled back in the bottom of the fifth for the 4-3 score. Matt Weaver doubled to lead off the inning followed by a L.V. Ware home run (1) to left. Asheville pitching held Rome the rest of the way to hold on for the win.

Daniel Perkins (2-3) earns the win for Asheville while Brett DeVall (0-1) gets his first loss of the season for Rome. Alan DeRatt gets his first save for the Tourists.
