As Mullhaupt Moves On, Knights Name Mossbrooks New Voice

Junior hockey is a proving ground. First and foremost, it's a platform for its players striving to move to higher levels of competition with an end goal of playing collegiately and/or professionally. Coaches challenge and lead their teams to obtain success on and off the ice. They do so for the betterment of their players and to prove that they too are capable of rising through the coaching ranks.

This platform extends to hopeful broadcasters, who begin their careers covering hockey at the junior level in hopes of one day speaking to millions.

On Thursday, the news broke that Knights Director of Communications Tim Mullhaupt is moving to a new role with the Lincoln Stars. Starting with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 2015 entrance into the NAHL, Mullhaupt has been the voice of Knights junior hockey for the past three seasons.

"I've been incredibly lucky," said Mullhaupt. "For the past three years I've been privileged to work and learn within an organization that could not have been more welcoming, accessible, and generous to the needs of a broadcaster looking for a start."

"Tim has played a big part in our organization over the past few years," said Knights head coach Tom Kowal. "His role has gone from being an outsider calling games when he first arrived, to becoming one of the key members of our hockey operation. He's approached his role with an eager attitude and we've been happy to have that energy in our building."

Mullhaupt won't forget who gave him his start.

"I owe Tom Kowal and Kerry Huffman a lot," said Mullhaupt. "They went to bat for me, and without their votes of confidence things would have been very different. Knights ownership was kind enough to bring me aboard and for that, I will always be grateful. With that, I can't say enough about the access the organization has provided me. Tom, Andrew Whiteside, and Josh Fusco-I want to thank them for being great coaches to work with, but also for being steadfast friends through some of the turns life has taken me on over the past three years. That extends to our assistant GM Justin Schreiber, our trainer Paul Celona, our goalie coach Andrei Svistunov, our players, our rink staff and interns, and the great ownership that put all of this together."

"I want to thank Tim for his time with us," said Kowal. "It's been a fun ride working with him-I know my dad will miss him on the airwaves-but this is what we're here for. The Knights exist to move people forward. That extends to our players, our coaches, and all of our team staff. We're happy for Tim and wish him the best of luck in his career."

The Knights have named Andrew Mossbrooks as the next voice of Knights junior hockey. Mossbrooks, 23, is a native of Sunbury, Pennsylvania and is a recent graduate of Millersville University. He comes to the Knights with a sterling resume. He's interned and worked for the Philadelphia Flyers, interned with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and has provided play-by-play for independent baseball. Prior to his graduation, he served four years as the play-by-play voice of Millersville's hockey team.

"I'm thankful to General Manager Tom Kowal and his staff for giving me this opportunity to serve as voice of the Knights," said Mossbrooks. "I look forward to joining this organization and immersing myself in Knights' culture and the surrounding community, serving as an ambassador for, the Knights, the North American Hockey League, and the Eastern Hockey League."

Mossbrooks is no stranger to the Knights, nor the Revolution Ice Centre. His past coverage of college hockey brought him to the rink, and last season he joined Mullhaupt as a commentator during the Knights game at the Wells Fargo Center.

"I've had the pleasure of getting to know Andrew over the past three years," said Mullhaupt. "He's an incredibly hard worker and his ambition is unparalleled. I think Knights fans will be excited to hear a new voice, especially one as talented as Andrew's. He's familiar with our rink and our team, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better fit. I only ask that our fans give him the same respect and warm welcome they gave to me."

"Andrew's resume speaks for itself," said Kowal. "He came highly recommended and his familiarity with our sport and our set up will only help him get up to speed. We're excited to to get to work with him."

As both men move to their new roles, the Knights organization thanks Tim for his work over the years and joins the staff in welcoming Andrew into the fold!
