CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Sam Best denied all 24 shots faced Saturday to lead the Corpus Christi IceRays to a 4-0 win over the Shreveport Mudbugs at American Bank Center. Mason Kohn, Brian Kramer, Blake Bennett and Noah Roofe scored for the IceRays.
Corpus Christi (3-5-0, 6 pts.) recorded 57 shots on goal, most by any team in the NAHL so far this season. Leo Chuard made 53 saves for the Mudbugs (4-4-0, 8 pts.).
Kohn opened the scoring with a power-play goal 4:14 into the game with a one-timer from the left circle off a feed from Kramer.
The lead doubled in the second period when Kramer recorded his first career NAHL goal at 4:00 during 4-on-4 action. Bennett then made it 3-0 IceRays late in the period, knocking in a point shot from Coltan Wilkie at 17:50.
The game's final goal was notched by returning forward Noah Roofe at the 9:03 mark of the third period, burying a rebound for Corpus Christi's second power-play tally of the night.
Aleksi Peltonen (0-2-2), Bennett (1-1-2), Kramer (1-1-2) and Roofe (1-1-2) recorded multi-point nights for the IceRays.
The IceRays now head into a bye weekend and will return to action with a home weekend set Oct. 12-13 against the Lone Star Brahmas.
