Norfolk Tides News Release
Jake Arrieta struck out 10 and Scott Moore and Brandon Snyder each drove in three in Norfolk's 8-1 win over Pawtucket Thursday night.
Arrieta (4-2) continued his dominant start to the season, as the 24-year-old allowed just four singles and two walks in seven shutout innings. His 10 strikeouts were one shy of his career-high, and the seven scoreless frames lowered his ERA to 1.93 on the season.
Arrieta threw 75 of his season-high 115 pitches for strikes and ended his night by striking out the side in the seventh inning.
Moore and Snyder each doubled, singled and drove in three to pace the Tides offense. The pair also drove home all of Norfolk's runs in a five-run fifth inning, as Moore drove home two with a single and Snyder later added a bases-clearing double.
Robert Andino clubbed a solo homer in the contest, while Jeff Salazar and Michel Hernandez each added two hits apiece.
Lars Anderson was the lone Pawsox batter with multiple hits, one of which was a solo homer in the ninth inning off of Kam Mickolio.
Fabio Castro (2-3) suffered the loss for the Red Sox, yielding six runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings of work.
The Tides and Pawsox will wrap up their four-game series on Friday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park slated for 7:15. Chris George (1-1, 4.50) is expected to make the start for Norfolk against right-hander Adam Mills (1-3, 4.25).
