Arizona Escapes With Victory Over New Mexico

November 22, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - New Mexico Scorpions News Release

RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-In a see-saw battle the Scorpions fell to Arizona 5-4 on Saturday night. The same two teams will battle for a third straight game Wednesday night in Prescott Valley.

It was an active first period featuring a combined five goals. Cory Stillman scored his third goal of the season 1:56 into the contest.

The Scorpions answered when they went to a two-man advantage. Neil Trimm pushed home a rebound for his second goal of the season. A little over two minutes later Mitch Stephens gave the Scorpions their first lead of the game with his fifth goal of the year.

The lead was short lived as the Scorpions found themselves in the penalty box. New Mexico did a good job of killing off over two minutes of five on three situations. Joel Irving found the back door to be open, giving the Sundogs a 3-2 lead.

The offense continued in the second period as Adam Blanchette scored his first goal in a Scorpions sweater at the 1:37 mark. Seth Leonard gave the Scorps the lead back with a rebound tally.

Back came Arizona as Irving scored his second goal of the game. With just seconds remaining in the middle period Adam Perry stuffed home a loose puck in what proved to be the game winner.

The puck drops from Arizona on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal or seen on CHL Network.

New Mexico returns home on December 5th and 6th to face the Amarillo Gorillas. Friday is the Teddy Bear Toss and Saturday the first 1,500 fans get Koozies courtesy of Massage Envy.

Group tickets and corporate partnership prices are now more affordable than ever after the Scorpions reduced prices across the board.
