SPOKANE, Wash. - 5,165 Spokane Indians fans saw their hometown team open the second half of the season with a win! The Indians offense broke out and scored nine unanswered runs to beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 12-6 on Baseball Hat Giveaway & Azteca Taco Tuesday presented by Pepsi and The Inlander.

Every time Tri-City scored, Spokane responded quickly. After the Dust Devils took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, Spokane would get on the board in the third with a bases loaded walk from Diosbel Arias. In the fifth, Arias struck again. Trailing 3-1 and with a runner on, Arias blasted a no-doubt two-run homer to left field to tie the game, 3-3. He wasn't done there.

Tri-City pushed across three more to regain the lead in the sixth. Spokane answered immediately. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Jax Biggers got the Indians closer with a two-run single. Three batters later, with runners on second and third, Arias smacked one back up the middle to score both runners and give Spokane a 7-6 lead. Arias finished the night with a career-best five RBI and is now top 10 in the NWL for runs, hits, and RBI.

The Indians backed up their four-run sixth inning with a four-run seventh to extend the lead and put the game away. With two outs and the bases loaded, Julio Pablo Martinez hit a grounder into the hole at second base. Dust Devils' second baseman Olivier Basabe made an errant throw that landed in the dugout, allowing two Indians to score. Curtis Terry, fresh off his NWL Player of the Week Award, followed with a two-run single, pushing his league-leading RBI total to 30.

The offense took Tai Tiedemann off the hook. He was solid through five, but ran into trouble in the sixth. Tiedemann finished the night giving up five runs in 5.1 innings, striking out five and walking two.

Cole Uvila (W, 1-0) struck out five in 2.1 innings out of the bullpen to keep the lead intact. Bobby Eveld got the final four outs of the evening. Eveld has not given up a run in six innings this season.
