Toronto - 2006 will become 1983 at the Argo game on Saturday at Rogers Centre. The game, themed "Turn Back Time presented by Pizza Pizza" will time travel back to 1983 when the Double Blue won the Grey Cup after a 37 year drought when they downed the BC Lions in an 18-17 thriller. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. as the two teams face off once again on QB Damon Allen's 43rd birthday.
Members of the 1983 team will be honoured at the game including K/P Hank Ilesic, LB Don Moen, QB Condredge Holloway, WR Terry Greer, RB Bob Bronk, WR Steve Ackroyd, OL Dan Ferrone, DL Steve Del Col, OL John Malinoski and Head Coach Bob O'Billovich. Greer and Holloway will handle coin toss duties, Pizza Pizza's Jen Gould will do the honourary kickoff and former Argo cheerleader Anette Trevoro will sing the anthem.
In addition to highlight footage and trivia from 1983, the music at the game will be from '80s and the boat logo from 1983 will be painted at centrefield. The Blue Thunder Cheerleaders will perform special '80s routines. Special rollback prices will be offered as tickets in the red section will cost only $19.83.
The '80s party begins at the Steelback Streefest at 3:00 p.m. on Bremner St. including fashion from the 1980s, food, drinks, a Bowmans poker table and a trivia contest. '80s cover band Blaze and Glory will perform outside of Gate 5 while another '80s tribute band, Big Hair, will perform at the 1980s party outside of Gate 11.
After the game, members of the current Argo team, the 1983 Argo team, the Blue Thunder Cheerleaders, and the alumni cheerleaders will all take part in the See You On The Field autograph session. Rock outfit The Miniatures will perform their hits "Dead Flowers" and "Actors and Soldiers", as well as a David Bowie cover song from the '80s on the Sirius Satellite Radio Stage during See You on the Field.
