Toronto Argonauts News Release

The Toronto Argonauts welcomed back two players today who were integral to last year's playoff push after they both returned to the team from NFL workouts. Punter/Kicker Noel Prefontaine, considered by many to be one of the best kickers in the CFL, returns after a tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs. CB Bashir Levingston returns for his second season with the Argos after a tryout with the Miami Dolphins.

Both players will begin practicing with the Argos today and the team will have five days to add the players to the active roster.

"Both of these players were keys to the Argos earning their first playoff berth in three years last season," said Argos Head Coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons. "Of course we were thrilled to see them get the chance to play in the NFL, but I'd be lying if I said we weren't even happier to see them back in an Argo uniform!"

A perennial All-Star at Punter, Noel Prefontaine showed everyone in the league last season that he is just as adept as a field goal kicker. He earned the Argos their first playoff berth in three seasons when he kicked a game-winning field goal against Calgary in the team's last regular-season game. Prefontaine returns to the Argos for his sixth season with the team.

Bashir Levingston returns to Toronto for his second CFL season after making a huge impact last season as a cornerback and punt returner. He earned Special Teams Player of the Week honours in the Argos' 24-14 Eastern Semi-Final win over Saskatchewan for his 67 yard punt return for a momentum-shifting touchdown that helped propel the Argos into the Eastern Final. He made eight starts at cornerback for the Argos in his rookie season.

In addition to the return of Prefontaine and Levingston, the Argos announced the signing of wide receiver James Hundon and defensive back Kevin Scott to the team's practice roster.

Hundon comes to the Argos as a top offensive threat from the Arena Football League's San Jose Sabrecats. In three seasons in the AFL, Hundon recorded 220 career receptions for 3,409 yards and 78 touchdowns. He also played with the San Francisco Demons of the XFL in 2001. The four-year NFL veteran played 36 career games with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1996-99 where he posted 28 receptions for 416 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Kevin Scott also comes to the Argos after time in the AFL where he played for Argos coach Rich Stubler with the Detroit Fury. Originally a 4th round selection (91st overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 1991 NFL Draft, Scott went on to play three seasons with the Lions and one season for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe in 1997. He also played for the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL in 2001. Scott earned All-American honours at Stanford University where he was named to the school's All-Decade team for the 80's.
