
Canada Day Bash Highlights Weekend

Toronto, Ontario â For fans of the Canadian Football League the coming weekend is a dream come true. Six CFL games will be played over the weekend and into Canada Day with the Canada Day Bash Doubleheader closing out the football-fest.
The run-up to the Canada Day Bash begins on Thursday, June 26 as the rivalry of Alberta continues, with the Stampeders paying a visit to the Eskimos. Game time is
7:00 PM MT and will be televised nationally on TSN. Friday, June 27 sees the Ottawa Renegades open the home portion of their 2003 schedule as they entertain the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Game time is 7:30 PM ET and will be televised on TSN. The Saskatchewan Roughriders host the B.C. Lions at 5:00 PM CDT for the CFL on CBC Saturday night telecast. To close out the week's games, the Toronto and Hamilton rivalry gets revved up with a game in Toronto at 6:00 PM ET on Monday, June 30.
The Canada Day Bash is a doubleheader to beat all. Edmonton travels to Winnipeg to take on the Bombers at 4:00 PM CT and start the first of two premier battles. Ottawa travels to Calgary to complete the Canada Day Bash. Game time is 6:00 PM MT. Both Canada Day Bash games will be televised on TSN.
This year marks the first time in League history that homage is paid to Canada Day with the staging of a football doubleheader. The Canada Day Bash is the first of three special doubleheader weekends in 2003 which help celebrate the nation's passion for the Canadian Football experience. The next landmark weekend will be the Labour Day Classic on Monday, September 1, featuring two age-old rivalries. Thanksgiving Day weekend will also have a special flavour this year, named Gridiron Thanksgiving. This special event, another newcomer to the League's schedule, will feature traditional rivalries on Monday, October 13, offering CFL fans more great Canadian football.
The Canadian Football League operates in nine leading Canadian cities. Its teams compete annually for the Grey Cup, Canada's oldest professional League championship trophy. The 91st Grey Cup will be played in Regina on November 16, 2003.
