
Are You Ready For Some Hockey? Falcons Home Opener Is This Friday

FRESNO, Calif. â Dust off your Falcons jersey, dig up your rally towel, and clear your calendar for this weekend â Fresno Falcons Hockey is back! The Falcons open up defense of their first-ever Taylor Cup Championship at home with an Opening Weekend Extravaganza, Oct. 18th, 19th, and 20th at Selland Arena. Hockey fans can get their fix during an action-packed weekend that kicks off with a Taylor Cup Finals rematch against the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and concludes with a showdown with the Anchorage Aces at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Friday's Opening Night will feature the Taylor Cup Championship banner-raising ceremony, as well as the presentation of the championship rings to the team. The first 5,000 fans to arrive at Selland Arena will receive a Taylor Cup Champions poster, courtesy of Carl's Jr., The Fresno Bee, KSEE 24, and 95.7 The Fox. Nationally known country and western trio, The Sons of the San Joaquin, will be on hand to sing the national anthem, and the Fresno Junior Falcons hockey team will be introduced on the ice during the first intermission.
Saturday night's game will conclude the showdown against the Steelheads, and the first 5,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a 2002-03 Falcons magnet schedule, compliments of Spinal Health Center, Institute of Technology, KFRE WB 59, and New Rock 104. This game will also mark the return of the Hedrick's Hallowell Chevrolet Truck Shootout, where three contestants will compete in an on-ice shootout to win a brand new truck. The weekend will conclude with the season's first CentralValley.com Family Day on Sunday at 5 p.m. The first 2,000 people through the arena doors will receive a free Falcons Schedule Cup from Volume Services of America. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase a special Family Pack of tickets, six tickets for only $28! This offer will be available exclusively through the Selland Arena Box Office.
Single-game tickets for opening weekend, and the rest of the Falcons' 36-game home schedule, are currently on sale at the Selland Arena Box Office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, and on-line at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices range from $8 for general admission seating to $14 for seats along center ice. Kids, students, seniors, and military are all eligible for a $1 discount.
