Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, WA: Blake Rambusch read the wild pitch perfectly. As soon as it bounced off Hillsboro catcher Gavin Logan's glove, he dashed home to win the game 3-2 Everett in 11 innings. With the win, the AquaSox improved to 24-23 on the season.
The AquaSox turned to Georgia Southern University alumni Jordan Jackson, trying to even up the series with the Hillsboro Hops after an 8-4 loss on Monday, and he didn't disappoint. Jackson had his best outing of the season going 6.0 innings, giving up only one run on five hits but did not figure in the decision.
The AquaSox got on board early. Walking Cabrera drilled a double off the right-center field wall that scored two and gave Everett a 2-0 lead straight out of the gate.
The Hops starter Joe Ebis' day ended after 3.2 innings. He gave up two runs on five hits and four walks. He left the game with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth. Will Mabrey took his place, looking to pitch out of the jam. Mabrey did his job, getting Rodriguez to fly out and keeping the game at 2-0. in favor of Everett.
Jackson gave up his only run of the game in the sixth and squashed the Hillsboro rally, getting a 5-4-3 double play with runners at first and second and one out to hold onto the 2-1 Everett lead.
Jackson handed the ball to Luis Curvelo and the Everett bullpen to start the seventh after six solid innings. With two outs in the inning, the Hops tied the game at two on a wild pitch.
Logan Rinehart and Michael Flynn were also stellar out of the pen pitching four scoreless frames in the eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh innings, striking out seven combined and keeping the game tied.
The AquaSox came less than five feet away from ending the game in the ninth. Alberto Rodriguez lined a double down the right-field line. Ben Ramirez tried to score from first base but was gunned down by a perfect throw from Channy Ortiz. The game stayed tied and went to extra innings.
Michael Flynn, a 6thround draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2018 who the Mariners signed as a free agent in 2022, pitched through the tenth, and eleventh, stranding the Hillsboro free runner in both frames earning the win, and lowering his ERA to 1.59.
