EUGENE, Ore. - Matt Sanders delivered an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning, while David Ellingson worked a scoreless bottom of the 10th, as the Everett AquaSox took the opening game of a five-game series, in 10 innings, against the Eugene Emeralds, 4-3.
Down 3-0 after six innings, the AquaSox rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, Josh Stowers hit a deep flyball down the right-field line that was lost in the lights by Eugene right-fielder Jonathan Sierra. The ball landed for a double and scored two runs. Moments later, Bobby Honeyman lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Connor Kopach to tie the game.
Ellingson (1-0) turned in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed just one hit and struck out four.
Reliever Ivan Fortunato allowed one run on three hits through 4 2/3 innings and struck out six.
Sanders batted 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.
