EVERETT, Wash. - Hawkins Gebbers hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 13th inning to lead the Everett AquaSox (14-12, 41-23) to a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils (10-16, 27-37) Tuesday night in front of 2,707 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Jorden Merry (2-0, 4.40 ERA) earned the victory with 3.0 scoreless extra-innings. Clint Tilford (3-3, 6.19) suffered the loss for Tri-City.

Gebbers led the way for Sox offense, going 3-for-6 with the all-important RBI. Steven Baron went 2-for-6 with one RBI.

Ogui Diaz and Dust Devils starter Josh Hungerman battled through four scoreless innings to begin the ballgame, with each pitcher getting out of a few potential jams. The Sox put two on with nobody out in the first two innings but came away empty, and Diaz flashed his skills as a former infielder to keep Tri-City off the board while allowing only one hit through four.

Jayson Langfels broke the scoreless tie in the fifth with a solo home run, putting the Dust Devils up 1-0.

Dwight Britton, who had spent the last week with Double-A West Tennessee, led off the bottom of the inning with a single off the wall in right and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Terry Serrano. After a strikeout, Kevin Rivers hit an infield popup that was dropped by second baseman Dominic Altobelli, allowing Britton to score from second and tie the game at 1-1.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when Baron delivered a two-out single through the middle to plate Serrano, giving the Sox a brief 2-1 lead.

Laurent responded by hitting his third home run in the last two games off reliever Eric Valdez in the top of the eighth to tie it back up at 2-2.

Anthony Phillips led of the bottom of the ninth inning with a double to left-center field, putting the winning run in scoring position with nobody out but was stranded at second to send the game to extra innings.

Fast forward to the bottom of the 13th, as Gebbers wasted no time in blasting a pitch by Tilford over the left-field wall to set off the celebration as the AquaSox finish the series with a win after dropping three straight.

John Housey and Tyler Burgoon, who was rushed into service after Valdez was ejected, combined to throw 4.2 innings of scoreless relief. Coach Scott Steinmann was also ejected from the ballgame in the eighth.

-more- The Sox hit the road for a three-game series with the Eugene Emeralds beginning Wednesday night at 7:05. Chris Sorce (6-2, 4.16 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for the Frogs against Mauricio Tabachnik (3-2, 3.55 ERA) for the Ems.
