ICYMI: Weston Wilson hit a two-run home run in the third, Cooper Hummel later capped a five run Carolina fifth with a three-run homer and Ronnie Gideon had three hits as the Mudcats closed out a series victory in Wilmington with a 9-7 road win at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium on Wednesday.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Weston Wilson and Cooper Hummel both launched their first home runs of the season in yesterday's victory in Wilmington. Wilson's was a 2-run shot in the third and Hummel's was a 3-run blast in the fourth... The Mudcats allowed four runs in the ninth inning of yesterday's game, but held on for a 9-7 series clinching victory. It was the second straight day that they allowed four runs in the final inning.

VS. ASTROS: The Mudcats take on the Astros tonight in game one of a four game series at Five County Stadium. Tonight's game is the first of 27 total meetings this season between the two teams. The Mudcats went just 7-16 against Buies Creek last season, including a 3-8 record at home and 4-8 record on the road.

MUDCATS STARTER: Left-hander Cam Roegner has tonight's series opening start versus Buies Creek at Five County Stadium. Roegner enters tonight's outing at 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over two starts so far this season. He has not yet allowed a run this season and is currently tied for the Carolina League lead in earned run average (0.00). He is also tied for 5th in the CL in WHIP (0.92) and 6th in average against (.191). Roegner turned in his second straight quality start and pitched through a career high 7.0 innings without allowing a run in his start on 4/14 in Winston-Salem. He struck out six, walked two and scattered four hits over 7.0 scoreless innings while finishing without a decision his last time out.

OPP STARTER: Right-hander Brandon Bailey gets the start in tonight's series opener for the Astros. Bailey is 0-1 and has pitched to a 5.63 ERA over two games and one start this season with Buies Creek. He last pitched on 4/13 versus Salem and took the loss after allowing four earned runs on two hits over 2.2 innings pitched. He also hit two batters, walked three, gave up a home run and struck out five his last time out. Bailey was acquired by the Houston Astros in November 2017 as part of a trade with the Oakland Athletics (the A's received OF Ramon Laureano). He was originally selected by the A's in the 6th round of the 2016 draft out of Gonzaga.

STREAKING: Carlos Belonis has hit safely in five straight games and is batting .368 (7-for-14) with two home runs, eight RBI and a 1.165 OPS during the streak... Clint Coulter has hit safely in six straight games and batting .316 (6-for-19) with two doubles, one home run, two RBI and a 1.014 OPS during the streak... Ronnie Gideon has hit safely in four straight games and batting .444 (8-for-13) with two doubles, two RBI and a 1.029 OPS during the streak.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Mudcats return from their first road trip of the season tonight for game one of a seven game (eight day) home stand at Five County Stadium. Carolina went 3-4 during the road trip, but hit a combined .267/.354/.432 with 31 runs, 18 doubles, two triples and six home runs while on the road. They also combined to pitch to a 4.65 ERA with six home runs allowed away from home... Conversely, they went 5-2 in their season opening home stand, but hit just .212 with 25 runs, 10 doubles, one triple and two home runs. The pitching staff, meanwhile, went 5-2 with a 3.20 ERA and two home runs allowed during the opening home stand.

NO RUNNING: Max McDowell has caught a Minor League Baseball leading 10 base stealers so far this season (10 CS, 13 ATT). McDowell also leads all minor league catchers, with at least four attempted steals against, in caught stealing/stolen bases against efficiency (.769)... The Mudcats as a team have caught 12 of 19 base stealers this season (.632).
