WCL Wenatchee AppleSox

AppleSox Return to Paul Thomas, Sr. Stadium Tonight vs. Bend

June 5, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Wenatchee AppleSox News Release

(Wenatchee, Wash.)- The Wenatchee AppleSox are set to open their 2012 home schedule tonight as they begin a three-game series against the Bend Elks. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.

The Sox (2-2) are coming off a four-game road tilt in Bellingham. After taking the first two games, Wenatchee dropped the final two in heartbreaking fashion.

On the mound for the AppleSox will be Pacific Lutheran's Trevor Lubking. Lubking was the opening day starter for Wenatchee, but that game was rained out after two completed innings and played on Sunday as a doubleheader.

The Elks will send out sophomore Clay Bauer. The College of San Mateo product went 4-6 this past season in 13 starts with a 4.21 ERA. This will be Bauer's first game action in the 2012 West Coast League Baseball season.

Wenatchee and Bend first met in 2000. The Sox hold a narrow 29-28 series advantage all-time against Bend and lead the series at home, 19-14.

Following the series against Bend, the AppleSox will remain home and welcome the defending league champion Corvallis Knights. Individual tickets can be purchased in advance at www.applesox.com or at the Town Toyota Center box office in Wenatchee. General admission tickets will also be sold at the ticket office at Paul Thomas, Sr. Stadium, which opens one hour prior to game time.
