Wenatchee AppleSox News Release

(Wenatchee, Wash.)- The AppleSox are set to welcome the Cowlitz Black Bears to Paul Thomas, Sr. Baseball Stadium tonight at 7:05 for a three-game series.

Wenatchee (10-2) is currently riding an eight-game winning streak after sweeping a three-game series with Klamath Falls earlier this week and sits half a game ahead of Bellingham for first place in the East Division. The win streak is currently the longest in the West Coast League.

The AppleSox pitching staff is near completion, and there was no shortage of fireworks on the mound in Klamath Falls. WCL Co-Player of the Week Lawrence Chew had a spectacular performance on Thursday in his first start of the season, and newcomers Drew Jacobs, K.J. Edson and Taylor Jones saw great relief outings. Chew has given up only one run in 13.0 innings pitched this season and has fanned 15 batters.

Tonight, it will be Gonzaga's Derek Callahan, who boasts some solid statistics himself, on the mound for the Sox. Callahan has two starts on the season and is 1-0 with 12 strikeouts in 11.0 innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Cowlitz (3-7) is looking to rebound from a disappointing trip to Kelowna. The Black Bears dropped the final two games of the three-game series and currently sit 4.5 games back of first place in the West Division.

Game tickets can be purchased online at www.applesox.com or in advance at the Town Toyota Center box office in Wenatchee. Tickets are also available for purchase on the day of the game at the Paul Thomas, Sr. Stadium ticket booth, which opens an hour before each game.
