Another Late Rally for the Cutters Falls Short
June 11, 2022 - Major League Baseball Draft League (MLBDL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Crosscutters lost 8-7 to the Spikes. The Cutters scored three runs in three runs in the top of the ninth, but the late rally was not enough. The Cutters had won all five of their games overs the Spikes
The Spikes overcame an early two-run deficit scoring all eight of their runs in the second, third and fourth inning. Jake Mastillo led the Spikes going 2-for-3 with five RBI and walk.
The Cutters fought back scoring two runs in the sixth inning and three runs in the ninth inning. The Cutters loaded the bases and Blake Mozley was hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Eddie Micheletti hit a sacrifice fly and Maury Weaver singled to bring home runs, but the Cutters stranded two runners to end the game.
Weaver was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two walks. Micheletti drove in two runs and Mozley drove in one.
Cutters' pitchers had some strong outings aside from two crooked innings. Starter Austin Marozas struck out three batters and allowed a run in two innings. Zac Czerniawski helped get out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth and struck out the side in the fifth. Geo Camfield and Jacob Kush each struck out two batters as they worked their way out of jams in the seventh and eighth inning.
