
Angels Recall Rodriguez and Wilson

SALT LAKE CITY (July 31, 2009) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled infielder Sean Rodriguez and catcher Bobby Wilson from Triple-A Salt Lake. In two additional moves, the Salt Lake Bees also announced that the team has recalled catcher Flint Wipke from Double-A Arkansas and activated infielder Luis Figueroa from the Disabled List.
Wilson, 26, has appeared in one game for the Angels this season without a plate appearance. Wilson made his big league debut with the Angels last season and logged seven games, recording one hit in six at-bats and one RBI. In 76 games for the Bees in 2009, Wilson is hitting .275 with 13 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and 40 RBI. The Dunedin, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 48th round of the 2002 free agent draft.
Rodriguez, 24, has appeared in nine games for the Angels this season, posting two hits in 17 at-bats, including a solo home run. In 81 games for the Bees in 2009, he is hitting .290 with 14 doubles, four triples, 23 home runs and 79 RBI. Rodriguez made his major league debut on April 19, 2008 and in 59 games with the Halos, hit .204 with eight doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI last season. The Miami, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the third round of the 2003 draft.
Wipke, 26, appeared in one game for the Bees this season, hitting .250 and scoring one run. He played in five games for the Bees in 2008. The Louisiana, Mo. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 38th round of the 2005 draft.
The Bees placed Figueroa on the Disabled List on April 30 with a broken left fibula. Figueroa, 35, has appeared in 15 games for the Bees in 2009, hitting .250 with three doubles and four RBI. In four games with the Arizona League Angels during his rehab stint, Figueroa batted .467 (7-15) with two runs scored, one double and three RBI.
