Angels Assign Vogelsong to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (July 28, 2010) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Ryan Vogelsong to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Salt Lake. He is expected to be available during tonight's home game against the Portland Beavers.

Vogelsong, 33, appeared in 25 games (seven starts) for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2010 before being released on July 16. Prior to Lehigh Valley, he spent three seasons in Japan, including a season with the Orix Buffaloes and two seasons with the Hanshin Tigers.

The Atglen, Penn. native was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round of the 1998 draft. He has appeared in 120 major league games over six seasons, including 17 games for the Giants and 103 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
