Andrew Dykstra Loaned to Charleston Battery

Washington, D.C. (May 25, 2012) - D.C. United announced today that goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra has been loaned to USL PRO side Charleston Battery until June 10, 2012. Dykstra was previously loaned to the club this season and has posted a 3-2-0 record.

Dykstra will be available for selection in the Battery lineup immediately and will face the New York Red Bulls in U.S. Open Cup play on Tuesday. During the loan, the Charleston Battery will face the LA Blues (5/26 at 7:30PM), the New York Red Bulls (5/29 at 7:30PM), the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (5/31 at 7:00PM), the Dayton Dutch Lions (6/2 at 8:00PM) and Orlando City (6/9 at 7:30PM).

Dykstra, a native of Woodbridge, Va., spent the 2011 season with the Charleston Battery, starting each of the 16 matches he played for the South Carolina side. The former Chicago Fire goalkeeper led USL PRO with a 0.98 goals-against average and 16 goals against, helping the Battery to an 8-6-2 record. For his efforts, Dykstra was awarded the club's Betsy McAdams Newcomer of the Year award.
