NEW YORK (May 25, 2012) - The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for a reckless challenge in the 82nd minute of Wednesday's game that endangered the safety of his opponent, Columbus Crew midfielder Cole Grossman. Alonso left his feet, showed his studs and used excessive force.

The Disciplinary Committee also suspended LA Galaxy midfielder Hector Jimenez one additional game and fined him an undisclosed amount for a challenge in the 59th minute of Wednesday's game that demonstrated disregard for the safety of his opponent, San Jose Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour. Jimenez left his feet, showed his studs and used excessive force. The referee issued Jimenez a red card, which carries an automatic one game suspension, so his total suspension is two games.

Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
