Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Cubs (7-10) scored a season-high 13 runs on their way to a 13-6 victory over the Oklahoma City Dodgers (10-8) Monday night at Principal Park. The two teams combined for four home runs, two from John Andreoli alone, which accounted for nine of the 19 total runs scored on the night.

For the second consecutive game, Iowa knocked a three-run homer in its first ups, this time off the bat of Daniel Vogelbach. The I-Cubs extended their lead to 5-0 after two innings when pitcher Drew Rucinski led off the second with a double and Andreoli followed with his first long ball of the night. Oklahoma City gained ground as it got on the board for the first time with back-to-back home runs from Corey Brown and Rob Segedin. The two teams continued to trade runs until they locked the score at 6-6 after the stretch. The I-Cubs took control in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with no outs and proceeded to rally for four runs to pull ahead 10-6. Iowa's bats didn't stop there as the home team put up three more in the eighth to put a cap on its best offensive effort of the season.

Seven of the eight position players knocked multiple hits for the I-Cubs with Andreoli and Albert Almora Jr. leading the way with three hits each. Andreoi tallied the first multi-homer game of his career and also grabbed a career-best four RBI.

Rucinski gave the I-Cubs 6.0 strong innings, allowing four runs - three earned - off six hits and one walk and collected six strikeouts. Armando Rivero (1-0) gave up two runs over one inning and took a blown save as well as the victory.

Iowa and Oklahoma City play the final game of the series at 12:08 p.m. tomorrow at Principal Park. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
