Anderson Signs with Hurricanes

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday they have signed 2008-born forward Kai Anderson to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Anderson, 15, was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Vancouver Giants on January 8th, 2024. The North Vancouver, BC, product was originally selected in the sixth-round (117th overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft by the Giants. He has collected 29 points (20g-9a) along with 27 penalty minutes this season with the Burnaby Winter Club U17 Prep team.

Anderson sits second in goal scoring for the BWC Gold team.

The 6'0, 165-pound forward has also collected three points (2g-1a) along with 19 penalty minutes in nine regular season games with the BWC U18 Prep Club. Anderson has skated in 91 career games with the Burnaby Winter Club at various levels, including U18, U17 and U15, having totaled 88 career points (51g-37a) along with 79 penalty minutes. He scred 26 points (13g-13a) along with 16 penalty minutes in 27 games at the U15 level during his WHL Draft season.

Anderson becomes the sixth 2008-born player to sign with the Hurricanes joining Chase Petersen, Gavin Lesiuk, Will Scott, Grady Pichette and Brody Rotar.

The Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre on Wednesday, March 6th when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers at 7:00pm before welcoming the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday at 7:00pm.
