
Anaheim Recalls Forwards Etem and Steckel

ANAHEIM, Calif . - The Anaheim Ducks announced Thursday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled left wing Emerson Etem and center Dave Steckel f rom the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Yesterday the Ducks reassigned defenseman Nolan Yonkman back to Norfolk.
Etem, 21, returns to Anaheim after posting five points (1g, 4a) in three contests played with Norfolk following his November 27 reassignment. The 6-1, 206-pound forward has appeared in 24 contests with Anaheim this season, registering 10 points (6g, 4a) with four penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He scored his first goal of the season, the GWG, on Oct. 20 vs. Dallas. He added his first career multi-goal game (2-02) on Nov. 2 @ Buffalo.
The 2010 first round draft selection of Anaheim made his NHL debut with the Ducks in 2012-13, collecting10 points (3g, 7a) with nine PIM in 38 contests. The Long Beach, California native has appeared in 62 career contests with the Ducks, totaling 20 points ( 8g, 11a) with 13 PIM and a +9 rating. Etem posted 16 points (13g, 3a) in 45 contests with Norfolk last season.
Steckel, 31, has totaled 79 points (33g. 46a) in 418 NHL games split between stints with Washington, New Jersey, Toronto, and Anaheim. The 6-6, 215-pound center appeared in 21 games with the Ducks last season posting six points (1g, 6a). Steckel appeared in all seven of Anaheim's Conference Quarterfinal contests vs. Detroit last season, collecting two points.
A dependable faceoff specialist, Steckel led the NHL in faceoff percentage in 2010-11 (62.3%). In 10 NHL seasons, Steckel has compiled a career faceoff percentage of 58.3% (3031-for-5205). The 2001 first round (30th overall) draft selection of Los Angeles has registered six points (3g, 3a) with a +3 rating this season in 17 games split between Norfolk (13) and Iowa (4).
Norfolk is back on the road this weekend for a Friday and Saturday set at Syracuse. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m. The Admirals return home for a pair of games against the Springfield Falcons on December 13 & 14. The Annual Toy Toss is set for Friday, December 13th.
