Anaheim Ducks Sign Defenseman Keaton Thompson to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Keaton Thompson to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thompson, 20 (9/14/95), scored 2-15=17 points with a +21 rating and 36 penalty minutes (PIM) in 43 games with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (NCHC) this season and led his team to the 2015-16 NCAA National Championship. The Devils Lake, ND native tallied two assists (0-2=2) in four NCAA tournament games.

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (87th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Thompson was one of 16 NCAA blueliners to achieve a +21 rating and co-led college defensemen in games played (43) for the 2015-16 season. He also established career highs in assists (15), points (17), PIM (36) and plus/minus (+21) last season.

Over three seasons with North Dakota, Thompson captured two NCHC regular season championships, scoring 8-28=36 points with a +43 rating in 105 games played.
