
Amerks and Knighthawks Winter Camps Now Open for Registration

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans and Knighthawks announced today that the 2010 winter youth hockey and lacrosse camps are now open for registration.
The fifth annual Amerks Winter Hockey Camp offers children* *an experience that no other camp can - the opportunity to meet, interact and learn the game of hockey from current and former Amerks playing in the American Hockey League and National Hockey League. Combining these top-notch instructors with the Amerks' renewed commitment to youth hockey ensures that this will be the best all-around hockey camp experience in Western New York.
The two-day camp runs from Monday, December 27th to Tuesday, December 28that Thomas Creek Ice Arena and the Sports Centre at MCC. Led by Amerks Assistant Coach Jason Cipolla, the camps are open to both travel and house players ages 6-12 for just $29.00 per camper ($19.00 for goalies). As part of the registration fee, all campers will receive one complimentary ticket for the January 1st Amerks home game as Rochester ushers in the New Year against the Syracuse Crunch. Extra tickets for the New Year's Day contest are available for purchase starting as low as $10.00.
Among the special guest on-ice instructors include Rochester Americans players Colby Robak, Michal Duco, Michal Repik and other qualified counselors, whose main priority is to provide an all-around experience for, both fun and educational. The clinic will push and challenge players to their limit, teaching them what it takes to be a successful player and be given the guidance and tools to help make their hockey aspirations a reality. Players will be coached in power skating, scoring, defensive play, offensive tactics and high-skill development. Shooting and stick-handling stations, plyometrics and speed training, strength building, team building exercises, nutrition talks and video analysis awaits the players during off-ice sessions.
For those looking to get a head start on the Spring lacrosse season, well here is your chance. Similar to the hockey clinic, the fourth annual Winter Knighthawks Lacrosse Camp is also a two-day event and will run from Tuesday, December 28th to Wednesday, December 29th at the Brighton Sports Zone. For just $69.00, campers will receive two hours each day of both team and individual instruction. Guided by current Nazareth College Head Coach Rob Randall, Pittsford Varsity Head Coach and former University of Maryland standout Andrew Whipple, in addition to both current and former Knighthawks, the camp offers boys 8-14 the perfect opportunity to learn from some of the game's top players.
The camp will place a heavy focus on skill development through the fundamentals of passing, shooting and ball-handling. For just Students will be taught the value of strength and conditioning through various team-related exercises designed to promote a healthy, active lifestyle outside of lacrosse. Additionally, campers participate in several team-building exercises that encourage teamwork, leadership problem-solving. They also learn systems and strategic play through the means of extensive study and observation of video analysis, seeing firsthand how the game is played by professionals.
