Washington Stealth Re-Sign Morgan for 2011

Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth announced today the signing of transition player Peter Morgan for the 2011 season, pending league approval. Morgan is entering his eleventh season in the National Lacrosse League, and his second with the Stealth.

The six-foot-six Morgan spent most of his NLL career as a power forward, racking up 175 goals and 172 assists in his first nine seasons. Last year with the Stealth however, Head Coach Chris Hall and his coaching staff utilized Morgan's size and strength in the transition game. He played in 13 regular season games, and finished with 22 points (8g, 13a) in 2010. His 58 loose balls marked the third-highest total of his career.

Morgan also played in two playoff games during the Stealth's championship run, scoring a goal in the Champion's Cup final that sparked an 8-0 Stealth run and clinched the NLL title. It was the first championship for Morgan as well; he had reached the playoffs four other times in his career, including a trip to the Champion's Cup Final with Portland in 2008.

"We are very happy to have Pete back with our organization this season," said Stealth General Manager Doug Locker. "He was big piece for us last season and really played a large role in our championship game victory. Pete is a very versatile player who gives CH and the rest of the coaching staff a lot of options and we could not be happier that he chose to wear a Stealth uniform this season"

Morgan has played in 115 games during his NLL career, which began in 2002 with the Vancouver Ravens. In his rookie year, he was named to the NLL All-Rookie team after posting career-highs in points (67), goals (32) and assists (35). He spent three seasons with the now-defunct Ravens before going to the Anaheim Storm for the 2005 season. He then spent four seasons with the Portland Lumberjax, enjoying some of his best seasons there with 54 points (25g, 29a) in 2006 and 53 points (29g, 24a) in 2009.

Morgan, a native of Port Coquitlam, B.C., played his summer ball with the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the Western Lacrosse Association from 1998-2009. He was a four-time WLA All-Star (2001-2002, 2005, 2008) and accumulated 679 points (328g, 351a) in 227 games. In his last two seasons with the Salmonbellies, he reached the prestigious Mann Cup Finals, losing to the Brampton Excelsiors both times.

The Stealth begins training camp for the 2011 season on December 4. The team begins its defense of the NLL title on January 8, when they travel to Denver, Colo., to take on the Colorado Mammoth. The home schedule begins the following evening when the Calgary Roughnecks visit the Comcast Arena.
