Edmonton, AB--- Gavin Prout, one of the all-time leading scorers in the National Lacrosse League, has signed a new one-year contract to remain with the Edmonton Rush.

General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan announced the re-signing of Prout, who enters his 10th NLL season standing in eighth place on the league's all-time scoring list at 738 points. Prout is just 35 points out of seventh spot on the all-time list, currently occupied by Tom Marachek.

"Gavin is one of the NLL's top offensive players and we are looking forward to seeing what more he can do for us in his second season as a member of the Rush," said Keenan.

The 32-year-old forward, who was acquired from Rochester prior to the start of the 2010 season, had a strong debut season with the Rush, finishing the year as the team's second-leading scorer and 21st in the league with 67 points. He ranked second on the team in goals (27), power-play goals (six), and assists (40). The regular season also saw Prout finish in a tie for fifth in the NLL with three game-winning goals.

Last season was Prout's first campaign with Edmonton, following six seasons with Colorado where he won the 2006 Champion's Cup title and become the Mammoth's all-time leading scorer. Prout certainly got up to play against his former club. In his first game back in Denver, Prout paced the Rush to their first win of the season and snapped Edmonton's long losing skid against Colorado when he supplied seven assists in a 14-13 victory. Prout was major force against his former club two months later in another stunning road win for the Rush as he managed four goals and one assist in Edmonton's 13-9 win.

Prout was instrumental in Edmonton's biggest win of the season as well. He notched three goals and four points for a seven-point effort in the Rush's 14-13 win over Washington which clinched Edmonton's first NLL playoff berth in franchise history.

The Whitby, Ont., native was a major spark for the Rush in the team's first playoff appearance. The five-foot-10, 185-pounder hit for 10 points on four goals, including two on the power play, and six assists in the two playoff games.

Prout's first two NLL seasons were played with the New York Saints, who had selected him first overall in the 2001 NLL Entry Draft. Two of Prout's current Rush teammates, Scott Stewart and Derek Suddons, were selected third and fourth overall in the same draft.

Through 143 career regular season, Prout has collected 257 goals and 481 assists along with 860 loose balls.

On the international scene, Prout helped Canada claim the gold medal at the 2006 World Lacrosse Championship.

In addition to his professional and international accolades, Prout won a pair of Minto Cups national junior 'A' championships with the Whitby Warriors, and he went on to win a Mann Cup senior 'A' national championship with the Brooklin Redmen. During his NCAA collegiate career, Prout earned First Team All-American honors in his senior season with Loyola College in Maryland.

Rory Glaves, one of only two remaining original members of the Edmonton Rush, will return for another season with the National Lacrosse League club after signing a new one-year deal.

Edmonton Rush General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan announced the re-signing of Glaves, who has cemented himself as one of the top defenders in the NLL over the past four seasons.

"Rory has been as steady and solid as any of the league's best defenders and I expect that he will continue to provide the Rush with strong play and leadership this coming season," said Keenan.

A steadying influence on the Rush's back end, Glaves joined the Rush for the club's inaugural 2007 season and has missed only five games over his tenure in the black and silver. In 2008, Glaves accepted the team award as the Rush's Top Defender. Last season, the six-foot, 195-pounder from Niagara Falls, Ont., played in all 16 regular-season games, picking up one goal and three assists plus 52 loose balls.

In 72 career regular-season games, Glaves has totaled eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points plus 192 loose balls.

The 28-year-old was originally the second overall pick in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft out of the University of Hartford. He played his first NLL campaign with Anaheim and was then acquired by the Rush in the 2006 NLL Dispersal Draft.

Prior to turning pro, Glaves won a pair of Minto Cup national junior 'A' championships in 2001 and 2003. He went on to win the 2005 Mann Cup national senior 'A' championship with the Victoria Shamrocks.

The Rush open the 2011 National Lacrosse League season on January 8 against cross-Canada rival and five-time league-champion Toronto Rock. The Rush will make their Rexall Place debut for the 2011 season on January 28 when they play the first of four games against the arch-rival Calgary Roughnecks. Training camp opens November 20 and ends December 19 in Edmonton.
