Americans Win the Teddy Bear Game 4-2
December 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas -- After a very physical game last night the Allen Americans hit the ice Saturday night to take on the Tulsa Oilers in the second night of a back to back. The Americans got the win 4-2, their third win in their last four games.
It was Teddy Bear Toss at the Allen Event Center so all the fans were on edge waiting for that first goal so they could throw their bears onto the ice. The fans didn't have to wait long as Spencer Asuchak scored the first goal of the game 6:42 into the first period. Gary Steffes would give Allen a two goal lead later in the period with assists coming from Chad Costello and Jake Marchment.
In the second period the two teams would trade goals with Tulsa scoring the first goal of the period and Jason Fram scoring just two minutes later. Costello assisted on Fram's goal giving him his third assist of the night. Costello took over the scoring lead in the ECHL with 31 points.
Going into the third period Allen was out shooting Tulsa 23-18 but the Oilers weren't going away easily. Tulsa cut the score to 3-2 with 5:49 remaining in the game. Riley Gill stood tall in net as that would be the only goal he allowed in the third despite the team being outshot 13-8 in the period. Bryan Moore scored later in the period to seal the 4-2 victory. Moore would also finish the night with three points as he also had two assists.
The team will enjoy a few days off before hosting the Missouri Mavericks at the Allen Event Center on Wednesday December 7th. The team looks to build on their recent momentum and climb up the standings with five more home games in the month of December.
