April 9, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release

The Americans and Cougars will continue their Round One playoff series tonight back in Prince George. The series is currently tied 3-2 after Prince George won the last two games.

Adam Mechura ended an 8-game point streak last game, but is still the series points leader with one goal and five assists. Tyson Greenway is the leading goal scorer with four goals. Despite both teams having excellent power plays during the regular season (Prince George - 27.7%, Tri-City - 27.3%), they have each only scored once on the power play so far in this series (PG - (1/14) 7.1%, Tri-City - (1/16) 6.2%).

Prince George took a 3-2 series lead on Friday as they defeated Tri-City 6-2 at the Toyota Center. Tri-City opened scoring for the fourth time in the series with a goal from Jake Sloan. The Cougars netted a pair of goals in the second period and took a lead over the Ams for the remainder of the evening. Zac Funk and Bauer Dumanski led the Cougars with a pair of goals each. It was Dumanski's first multi-goal WHL game. Tomas Suchanek made numerous outstanding saves for the Ams, turning aside 28 of 33 shots faced.

An Americans win tonight will force a Game 7 on Tuesday in Prince George.
