
Americans Take Game 1, 6-2 over Oilers

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Tulsa Oilers 6-2 on Tuesday night, to take Game 1 of the best of seven series.
Both teams scored in the opening frame, as Vincent Arseneau opened the post-season scoring at the 6:11 mark to make it 1-0 Americans, from Asuchak and Young. T.J. Caig tied the score seven minutes later, tipping one home for his first of the post season and the teams headed to the room even at 1-1.
The Americans exploded for four goals in the second period, as Chris Crane got things started at the 5:33 mark, his first of the post season from Abeltshauser and Steffes to even the game at 2-2. Asuchak, Costello and then Asuchak again, made it 5-2 Allen before the end of the second frame as Allen outscored Tulsa 4-1 in the second period.
Gary Steffes, back in the lineup tonight after nearly a month in the American Hockey League, found the back of the net for his first of the post season to make it 6-2, Allen. The Americans win the game to take a 1-0 series lead, with Game 2 tomorrow night at Allen Event Center.
