
Americans Sign Two as Shmyr and Foget Return

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, and Globe Life announced today that the team has signed forwards Braylon Shmyr and Mathieu Foget for the 2018-2019 season.
Both rookie forwards made an immediate impact on the Allen roster, joining the Americans late last season from major junior hockey in Canada.
Mathieu Foget, a 5-10 and 180-pound forward played in two games with the Americans last season, netting one goal, which was a game-winner in overtime against Idaho. The resident of Orleans, Ontario played his junior hockey with the Mississauga Steelheads and Ottawa 67's. He had 38 points in 31 games last year with Mississauga.
Braylon Shmyr played in nine games with the Americans last season and had four points (2 goals and 2 assists). He had five points in seven postseason games last season with the Americans. The Calgary, Alberta native played in 72 games in 2017-2018 with the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) and had 88 points (37 goals and 51 assists).
"I expect both players to be two of the top rookies in the league," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "Both have great vision and foot speed."
The Americans open their tenth training camp this October, as the team celebrates their tenth anniversary in minor pro hockey. Allen opens the regular season away from home on October 12th and 13th with back to back road games in Kansas City and Wichita. The Americans home opener in on October 20th vs Wichita.
