Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans announced today they have signed 2009-born forward Crew Martinson to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Martinson was selected 24th overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
"Crew had an outstanding season as captain of the U15 Red Deer Rebels AAA team," said Americans general manager Bob Tory. "He is a hard working, skilled, 200-foot player who possesses tremendous leadership skills. We are happy that Crew and his family have chosen the Tri-City Americans and the WHL for his hockey development."
Despite being limited to just 19 games, the Olds, Alberta native had a stellar 2023-24 campaign with the U15 Red Deer Rebels. Martinson posted 48 points (20-28-48) to finish second on his team in scoring, while playing 15 fewer games than the team's leading scorer.
Martinson carried that momentum into the playoffs where he scored at nearly a three-points-per-game pace with 25 (12-13-25) in just nine games. He was named to the AEHL U15 Second All-Star Team for his efforts.
Shortly before the WHL Prospects Draft Martinson was one of 120 Alberta-born players to suit up at the Alberta Cup, scoring four points (2-2-4) in five games with Team Alberta Black.
He is the second member of the Americans 2024 Draft class to sign with the team, joining third-overall pick Aden Bouchard.
