
Americans Shut Out Silvertips

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips were shut out by the Tri-City Americans Friday night, 6-0 at Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA. Johnny Lazo took home the night's first star with a two goal performance. Goaltender Drew Owsley collected his first shutout of the season with a 25 save night. The Silvertips head to Kent tomorrow night to take on U.S. Division rival Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:05 pm.
Tri-City came out to a hot start scoring on the power play at 5:10 of the first period. Brett Plouffe picked up his third goal of the season with assists to Brooks Macek and Sergei Drozd. The Americans would strike again three times before the end of the first period with goals from Lazo, Adam Hughesman and Neal Prokop. Tri-City outshot Everett 16-10 through the first period.
The Americans scored their fifth of the night from Lazo at 7:05 of the second period. Tri-City tallied their sixth and final goal of the night on a breakaway from an Eric Mestery pass to Justin Feser at 13:29.
This brings the 'Tips record to 13-7-1-0 with 27 points in 21 games played. Everett heads down to Kent Saturday night to take on the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:05.
The Silvertips continue the 2009-2010 season at Comcast Arena on Wednesday, November 25th against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05.
