Salt Lake City, Utah - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday night at Maverik Center.

Grizzles forward Matt Berry had a hat trick for Utah scoring the first two goals of the game. Berry's goal at the 5:03 mark of the opening frame would be all that Utah would need. Berry scored again at 10:26 and then Caleb Herbert scored his league leading 14th at 11:53. Utah took a 3-0 lead to the locker room after one period of play.

Berry added his third of the night in the second period at the 8:47 mark. He had five shots on goal total and had four points for the game. Grizzlies goalie Joe Cannata earned his second straight shutout stopping all 18 shots he faced. The loss drops Allen to a record of 4-11-0-2.

The Americans played without rookie forward Braylon Shmyr, who sat out with a lower body injury. Earlier in the day the Minnesota Wild traded forward Pavel Jenys to the Los Angeles Kings. Jenys played in nine games for Allen and had four goals.

The teams will take tomorrow off and resume their three-game series on Friday night at 8:05 pm MST.
