
Americans Score Early and Often in a 7-2 Win over Brampton

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans opened up the playoffs today by taking on the Brampton Beast at the Allen Event Center on Wednesday. The game, the first international playoff series for the CHL, was filled with goals as Allen routed Brampton to a 7-2 win.
Four goals were scored within the first four minutes of the game. Three of the goals went to Allen with Garrett Klotz opening up the scoring on 17 seconds into the game, assisted by Steven Tarasuk. Darryl Bootland struck less than a minute later, with the assists going to Anthony Maiani and Daniel Tetrault. Brampton got on the board 1:49 into the game when Michael MacIssac notched a goal, assisted by Matt Williams. Allen struck back at the 3:52 mark to take a 3-1 when Anthony Maiani fired a shot into the back of the net, assisted by Jonathan Zion and Darryl Bootland.
The Beast cut Allen's lead to 3-2 when Chris Duszynski netted the puck, assisted by Michael MacIssac and Thomas Stajan at the 7:48 mark of the frame. Allen answered back once more before the end of the period to giving them a 4-2 when Daniel Tetrault lit the lamp at the 12:05 mark, with the assisted credited Bruce Graham. The first period saw, six total goals with Allen holding a 19-8 edge on shots.
The second period belonged to Allen, with three unanswered goals scored. Darryl Bootland notched his second of the night at the 4:45 mark of the frame, with Anthony Maiani getting the lone assist. Tyler Ludwig struck twice on back-to-back power plays to give Allen a 7-2 lead. The first, at the 13:01 mark was assisted by Jamie Schaafsma and Anthony Maiani, with Greger Hanson and Jamie Schaafsma getting credit for the second at 17:39. Allen dominated once again in shots, holding a 18-12 lead over Brampton.
The third period proved to be physical but uneventful with no goals and nine shots going to both teams. Allen walked away with a 7-2 and a 46-29 lead on shots.
With the win, Allen takes a 1-0 playoff series lead against Brampton. The two teams will face-off again tomorrow for game 2 at the Allen Event Center with puck drop scheduled at 6:05.
