Americans Roll Over Jackalopes, 6-2 in Allen

ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans rocked the Odessa Jackalopes today by a score of 6-2, in front of 3,788 at the Allen Event Center.

The first period had just begun when David Nimmo banged home a rebound opportunity to put the Americans up 1-0 just over three minutes into the frame.

Nino Musitelli made it a 2-0 game just over three minutes later, burying a wrister from the slot off of a Colton Yellow Horn feed. On the play, Yellow Horn extended his point streak to 16 games.

Dave Bonk scored on a tic-tac-toe play early in the second period to give the Americans a three-goal cushion.

Bruce Graham kept the onslaught going midway through the second, cruising in unabated and beating Jacks goaltender Dave McKee to the blocker side, making it 4-0.

Nimmo would add his second goal of the afternoon late in the period to send the game to the third at 5-0 in favor of Allen.

Through the end of two period's of play, Allen netminder Chris Whitley had stopped all 27 shots thrown his way by the Odessa attack.

After pulling McKee in favor of Mike Mole, Odessa mounted a small comeback effort early in the third stanza. A Mike Ramsey tally just 29 seconds into the third, was followed by a Luke Stauffacher goal just over three minutes later to make it a 5-2 contest.

Allen was able to pull away again on another Graham goal late in the game on the power play.

The Americans move to 41-13-2 on the season, extending their lead in the Berry Conference to 17 points over second place Texas.

Odessa and Allen will matchup again Tuesday night in the Permian Basin. Fans are encouraged to attend Boston's The Gourmet Pizza on 121 in Mckinney for the official away game watching party.

Fans will again be able to catch the Americans at home on Saturday March 12th against the Wichita Thunder, and Sunday, March 13th when the Bloomington PrairieThunder come to town.
