Americans Rally in Third Period to Defeat Eagles 3-1

(Loveland, CO) - The Colorado Eagles fell to the Allen Americans Wednesday night 3-1 at the Budweiser Events Center. Casey Pierro-Zabotel led Allen to the win with a goal and an assist on the night.

The first period was highlighted by a fight between Darryl Bootland and Dyson Stevenson at the 7:44 mark. At the end of one, the Eagles and Americans were tied 0-0.

Midway through the second, Colorado forward Collin Bowman buried a slap-shot from the right hand side with 10:11 left in the period. Drayson Bowman and Nathan Moon picked up assists on the play and the Eagles took a 1-0 lead. On the period Colorado outshot Allen 15-6.

Allen tied it up in the third when Pierro-Zabotel scored a shorthanded goal off a turnover at the 5:20 mark on Eagles goaltender Jacob Deserres. The Americans took a 2-1 lead two minutes later when Tristan King found the back of the net after a puck defelected off of DeSerres and ricocheted off the skate of Collin Bowman and into the back of the net.

Danny Federico capped off the win for Allen scoring on an empty net with forty seconds left after the Eagles pulled Deserres in favor of an extra skater.

The Eagles head to Rapid City to take on the Rush Friday night before returning home to host the Rush on Saturday night at 7:05pm.
