Americans Name Mike Berube 4th Captain in Team History

October 12, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Allen Americans News Release

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans announced today that Mike Berube has been named as the 4th Captain in Allen Americans history.

The announcement was made live today at the Allen Event Center in front of a good crowd, who has gathered to celebrate Fan Fest 2013.

Allen Americans Coaches Steve Martinson and Richard Matvichuk made the decision, which became necessary after the retirement of former Captain Jason Deitsch. Berube joins Deitsch, Jarret Lukin and Tobias Whelan as honorary members of the Americans who wore the "C".

"Mike Berube is a perfect choice," said Americans Associate Coach Richard Matvichuk. "He's a winner, he has great respect in the room and he will do a fine job as team captain."

Berube will begin his 4th season with the Americans this year, playing in 163 games with Allen. The native of Edmonton, Alberta, has been a top four defenseman for the Americans all three seasons. He has played nine games at the American Hockey League level with both the Texas Stars and the Hartford Wolfpack.

The Americans will open the 2013-2014 regular season a week from tonight in Wichita, against the team they beat for the Presidents' Cup Trophy, the Wichita Thunder. Tickets for the home opener on October 20th at 4:05 pm are on sale NOW by calling 972-912-1000.
