The Americans and Winterhawks will meet tonight for the 11th time in their 12-game season series.
Tri-City is 3-7-0-0 against Portland so far this season with two of their wins coming in a shootout. All three victories have came with a different Americans goaltender in net. Tomas Suchanek is the only goalie to play for the Americans this year without a win against Portland.
Portland's Cross Hanas has the most head-to-head points with 3 goals and 15 assists. Klassen and Stefan each have 7 goals and 6 assists. For Tri-City, Connor Bouchard has the most points against Portland with 3 goals and 6 assists. Petr Moravec has scored 5 of his 14 goals this season against the Winterhawks.
The Americans most recently played last Saturday when they picked up a 6-3 victory over the Chiefs in Spokane.
After missing six games due to an upper body injury, Jake Sloan opened scoring just 56 seconds into his first game back for the Americans. Parker Bell and Sasha Mutala each had a pair of goals and an assist on Saturday. Tanner Gould also scored, recording the game-winning goal late in the second period. It was Gould's second career goal after netting his first in Tri-City the night before. After missing a lengthy amount of time due to injury, Gould has two goals and four assists through 20 games played. Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans, turning aside 24 of 27 shots faced. All three of Spokane's goals were scored on the power play, matching Tri-City's season high power play goals against (Spokane, 10/16).
Tri-City will look to build on Saturday's momentum and secure another two points in the playoff race tonight against the Winterhawks. The Americans are currently four points behind the Prince George Cougars and Spokane Chiefs for the final Western Conference playoff spot.
