Allen Americans News Release

Wheeling, West Virginia - The Allen Americans trail the Wheeling Nailers 2-1 in the 2016 Kelly Cup Finals, with Game 4 set for tonight at 6:30 PM North Texas time at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

The defending Kelly Cup Champions have dropped two in a row in the series, after suffering a 3-2 loss on Wednesday night on the road. The Americans have not lost more than two in a row this postseason, so the team is using that as positive motivation headed into tonight's Game 4.

"We watched the video and we know where we have to improve," said Americans defenseman Matt Register. "We have a veteran team with a lot of leadership and pride, and we will make the necessary adjustments tonight."

Riley Gill returned to the Allen lineup in Game 3, after missing a couple of games with a lower body injury. Gill played well in the loss on Wednesday night. Gary Steffes continues to carry a hot stick for Allen, now with 11 goals in the postseason, only two behind Greger Hanson's league leading 13. Steffes also has points in eight straight postseason games.

"Gary is playing at the level he was all last season," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He's playing with a lot of confidence and has been getting the results on the ice."

Trailing in a series is nothing new for the Americans. They trailed Ontario 3-1 last season in the Western Conference Finals, before rolling off three straight to win the series. The Americans also trailed Idaho 3-2 in Round 1 of the playoffs this year, before returning home to win Game's 6 & 7.

The puck drops tonight at 6:30 PM Central time from WesBanco Arena in Wheeling West Virginia. You can watch the game on ECHL TV or listen online on www.hot1073fm.com.
