Allen Americans News Release
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Ottawa Senators, faced the Tulsa Oilers in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday night and it was the Americans holding on for a 5-3 win at the BOK Center in front of a crowd of 7,231.
The Americans continued to struggle to put the puck in the net as they were blanked in the opening frame as was Tulsa. That made five periods in a row without a goal for the Americans. They closed the opening period on a five-minute power play. Roman Kinal was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for head-butting Danny Katic. The Americans outshot Tulsa 11-10 in the opening frame.
The flood gates opened in the second period as the Americans scored four times. All four goals came on the power play. Sam Stange opened the scoring with his fourth of the season at the 1:17 mark. Then 50 seconds later the Americans were on the board again as Harrison Blaisdell scored his first of the night and 15th of the year to make it a 2-0 Allen lead. Another Tulsa Penalty equaled another Americans power play opportunity, and they cashed in for the third time in the second frame as Harrison Blaisdell scored his second of the game and 16th of the year. One more goal later in the period and this time the Captain Colton Hargrove with his 16th of the season and the fourth power play goal of the period for the Americans. Allen took a 4-0 lead to the third period going 4-for-5 on the power play.
The Oilers made it interesting in the third frame, scoring three times in a six minute span. Two of the three goals from Oilers forward Tyrell Goulbourne, but the Americans put any hopes of a Tulsa rally back to rest with an empty net goal late in the third period from Sam Stange. His second of the game and fifth of the season. The Americans go for the series win on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 PM
Allen returns home on Friday, February 20th as the Utah Grizzlies visit Allen for a two-game weekend series. Call 972-912-1000 for tickets.
